Do blogs have more long term value than social posts?
Content marketing assets such as blogs, podcasts, and videos are the “gold standard” that content marketers should be focused on developing because they “stick around” on the internet. You will get indexed in Google.
Social media posts come off as spammy. Social media users want real interaction not some auto-spamming bot. Google doesn’t index individual Facebook statuses.
You are going to see more immediate engagement with a social post but developing a blog is a better strategy. You want to create a content marketing stragety that will funnel new clients over the long term to your product.
The Best Strategy is A Mixture Of Both
Ideally you should be doing both social media posting and your own content creation through a blog. Social media on legacy websites has a built in audience that you need to reach. Once you build a following on Facebook, Twitter ect you can then funnel that audience to your site. The goal is to engage them on the social platform, then being them back to a platform where you do control the presentation and access. It’s why so many sites just want your email. Emails are gold when it comes to marketing.
