Are you a recent graduate who has entered the job search using Indeed and other apps?

Avoid words — Direct marketing, customer acquisitions, account managers. Stay away from “brand ambassadors!” Be careful of MLM’s (multi level marketing) schemes, they are often promoted as “network marketing” jobs. You don’t want to be that “guy” who starts harassing friends and family.

Find local groups, marketing groups, groups that specialize in the kind of work you want to do. Plenty of slack and discord groups to join. Spamming Indeed like every other brand new grad is a waste of time and effort.

You got to start somewhere. Even if it’s a pain in the ego, to accept crappy jobs for a year or two but you can’t easily go higher without having an experience.

Andrew Lloyd of Beaver PA says set your eyes on a company you want to work with and get to work on a “sample” marketing plan that you can send them along with your resume. If things don’t work out, ask them what type of candidate they’re looking for down the line. Show that you’re willing to develop your skills to better fit the company’s needs. Don’t go for 3-month internships, you’ll get screwed.
